We’re watching the forecast for next weekend, but right now we’re still planning on a backpacking trip next weekend to Flint Rock on Holston Mountain December 10-11. With everything you need strapped to your back, you can set off on a wintry adventure. The views from Flint Rock are amazing, and the hike is a short 3-miler. We will be reviewing gear requirements for the trip this Tuesday night, so be there Tuesday if you’re thinking of attending.
This is a great opportunity for scouts to check off some needed outdoor skills such as hiking with map and compass and backpacking cooking requirements.
Right now, we’re planning on meeting at the church around 10 am. We will do a quick pack check and load up for the drive up to Holston Mountain. Anyone who needs to borrow gear from troop 8 can check it out on Tuesday night. A complete gear checklist is available on our website here.
