Scout Sunday is February 5th

img_2942.jpegA scout is reverent. This is the twelfth point of the Scout Law. On Scout Sunday, we have the opportunity to say thank you to State Street United Methodist Church for sponsoring our troop. They provide us with a great meeting space, storage for our gear, vans for transportation, and financial support. Many troops are not as fortunate as we are to have such a strong relationship with their sponsor. We need and expect our scouts to attend, and parents and families are invited to attend, too.

Scouts should meet in the upstairs of the church at 10:30 a.m. Scouts should wear full uniform, including uniform shirt, neckerchief, and either scout pants or jeans. Our scouts will have several roles in the service, including handing out bulletins and assisting with ushering.

Following the service, we will enjoy a pizza lunch and spend a couple of hours working on scout skills in preparation for next weekend’s Klondike Derby. We will be finished around 2:30 p.m. — plenty of time for scouts to get home for the Super Bowl.

Mr. Belew has been talking to our scouts lately about the importance of doing the right thing. This event may not be fun like a camping trip, but attendance at Scout Sunday is the right thing to do. Please help us reinforce this message by attending church at State Street UMC on February 5 with your scout.
