Plan Ahead for High Adventure

Philmont Group-smIn 2016 the council will send a contingent of Scouts  to Philmont, the BSA’s premier high adventure base. The year after (2017) we’ll be sending at least one troop of scouts to the National Jamboree at The Summit.

The cost of these events requires our families to plan ahead and we want to make sure that you’re aware of an important way to help your scouts pay their way on these council contingents. In 2014 the participation fee for our Philmont contingent was $1600 and in 2013 the participation fee for the National Jamboree was $1250. At this point we cannot predict the final cost for these events in 2016 and 2017 but we know that you’d welcome some guidance.

Scouts participating in council contingents such as Philmont, National Jamboree, or other Council-sponsored events can bank 50% of their expo ticket sales to help pay their way. Of course, if they take this option they’ll not be eligible for the other sales “prizes”.

These high adventure programs are truly life-changing experiences for our scouts and we’d like to see as many of them participate as possible. We hope this will make it a little easier.
