Scouting For Food & Camping Trip

13805742-mmmainScouting for Food Bag Delivery and Natural Tunnel Camping Trip
November 12-13, 2016

This coming weekend is very important for our community and for Troop 8, and we need all hands on deck!  On Saturday November 12, Troop 8 will participating in Scouting for Food.  This time of year, the shelves at the Bristol Emergency Food Pantry are nearly bare.  Our two-weekend food drive supplies more than half of their stockpile of food for an entire year.  This is an extremely important project, and we have a large area to cover.  We need all scouts there to help, and we also need parent volunteers to drive the scouts around.  Please let us know if you are available to help.

Saturday November 12

9:00 a.m.              Meet at the church to distribute food bags.  Scouts should be IN UNIFORM.  We will divide up into small teams and cover our territory.

11:00 a.m.           Regroup at the church to pack for camping trip.  We will depart for Natural Tunnel with a lunch stop at a fast food restaurant along the way.

Important Points

  • Cost for the weekend is $10 (plus pocket money for fast food lunch)
  • Scouts should bring a sleeping bag and pad, clothing for dressing in layers, and standard camping gear.  Troop 8 will provide tents and food for the weekend.  A camping gear checklist is available on our website, www.troop8bsa.com
  • At this point, the weather is expected to be nice for the weekend.  Sunny and in the high-50s and cool in the evenings in the mid-30s.
  • Parents should plan on the Troop being back to the church around 2:00 on Sunday.  As always, we will call for rides when we have put away all our gear.
